At its core, the Mallabones project was about more than aesthetics; it was an opportunity to reinvigorate community spirit and breathe new life into a much-loved village hub. A once tired, underused hall has been transformed into a stylish yet welcoming café and event space, where contemporary design sits comfortably alongside the building’s heritage. Removing the suspended ceiling revealed the original structure, rich in character, which went on to inform the design direction throughout the space.

The toilet area was thoughtfully reconfigured to include a fully accessible disabled toilet alongside a separate single cubicle, while allowing generous circulation space for guests during larger events. What could have felt purely functional was softened through fully clad walls, warm brass fixtures and inviting wall lights, ensuring this area feels cohesive, considered and aligned with the overall scheme.
